Individuals who are interested in careers as researchers and scholars in the field of developmental disabilities or special education, inclusive education, and related social sciences may apply for the Ph. In addition, we practice a research-apprenticeship model of student mentorship and training, thus all students will engage in research activities with faculty members.
Doctoral students may orient their preparation towards careers as college and university professors, researchers, program directors, or curriculum and instructional evaluators. Successful doctoral candidates will pass a doctoral certification examination in general special education and will complete a doctoral certification project in their area of specialization.
Procedures for admission to the Ph. Our lab typically recruits one graduate student every other year. However, depending on funding, we may recruit a student every year for several consecutive years. We are particularly interested in applicants from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds, including neurodivergent students.

The Clinical Science program currently requires the general GRE, although there has been some serious discussion about eliminating this requirement for the upcoming application cycle.
We recognize that the GRE is largely unpredictive of many important indicators of graduate student success, and is even less predictive for applicants from underrepresented backgrounds.
I weigh previous research experience, current research interests, and career goals most highly, although outstanding GRE scores can compensate for weaknesses in one or more of these areas.
