Kotaku , for instance, ran a piece which included an open reply to NimbleBit, pointing out that Tiny Tower "wasn't exactly divinely inspired, either". That reply suggested several games that may have served as inspiration for Tiny Tower , and included some advice for the indie developer: "If you want anyone to have respect for you guys at NimbleBit, don't whine about these things over the internet.
But, highlighting the fact that Tiny Tower was inspired by other games is missing the point. No matter what language was used in Marsh's somewhat snarky open letter, the allegation Marsh makes against Zynga isn't simply that Dream Heights was inspired by Tiny Tower. No, the allegation is that Zynga cloned it, taking all of its ideas from a single source and presenting customers with little more than a re-skin. First impressions would certainly suggest so, and as you scroll through your vertically stacked apartments and businesses, all perched atop a ground floor lobby and connected by a numbered elevator shaft, the similarities are striking.
Please note: Tiny Tower is pictured on the left below and in all subsequent screenshot mash-ups. Dream Heights is pictured on the right. Were it not for Tiny Tower 's distinctive pixel-art aesthetic, you'd barely notice a difference between the two games. The perspective, layout, and on-screen content are basically the same. As any gamer will tell you, though, it's not the looks, but the gameplay that's important.
So, Tiny Tower has you building a tower block floor-by-floor by constructing businesses and accommodation for your residents. And so does Dream Heights. Tiny Tower allows you to assign each resident a job in one of your tower's businesses, manage stock, and expand ever upwards as you collect money from rent and store profits.
The mechanics are identical: right down to the details. Christmas has been going on for quite a while in Junk Jack , but the latest update for this sandbox explorer has at last done away with the Yuletide theme. Pixbits seems keen on even more festive tie-ins, though, for a whole pile of Valentine's-related gubbins has just hit the game.
There's a Valentine bunny; a Valentine Chest filled with Valentine loot including a Valentine bow and arrow ; and plenty of non-Valentine's related stuff.
Sticking with the Valentine's theme, Tiny Tower has turned a particularly queasy colour recently. If the idea of a skyscraper plastered in hearts and painted a shade of pink more violent than a flamingo eating candyfloss appeals to you, then it'll be worth visiting the game once again. In this bonkers party game, you pilot a starship to safety by operating a variety of simple but highly technobabble-y controls.
Trouble is, you'll be receiving instructions for other players, so you'll be bellowing 'jiggle the emergency whittler! This new update is armed with an array of new modes, including experimental ones for larger crews, plus new skins and an extra challenge pack. I couldn't play it at the time because it was iPhone only and I was still using an older phone then. Fun, but game badly needs an update, like being able to evict the Chump.
Winning bux is a thrill, but everything costs more compared to Tiny Tower. Also, even at L10 inventory is a lot lower so I have to check the game a lot more. There is no quick stock for coins, so each floor has to be hand clicked.
Floors cost a lot more as well, relatively speaking, as it takes longer to earn coins when capacity is less than half of a L10 Tiny Tower floor. I do work through applicants to put 9s in their dream jobs, but is it truly random? Some floors I could max many times over while others I have yet to even get a third applicant. The developer will be required to provide privacy details when they submit their next app update. With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
App Store Preview. Screenshots iPad iPhone. Though this will cost me a ton of bux, and take a long time to do, it's still a better long-term investment than simply buying cash with 50 tower bux at a time, especially above floors. For upgrading, the increase in the default stock 75 is flat across the board. A general order follows: If you're having trouble keeping stock in your smaller stores especially your Food-based ones , then you can start with those to help balance things out.
